How I Balance School and Social Pressures...

Life has many issues and because we are living beings we have to learn to deal with those issues as we are on our journeys. In my experience so far one of the most challenging phases of life is when you are in school. Being that I am a student in the university I have learned a lot of new life lessons and encountered a lot of problems where I have to use my initiative to figure out how to get around them. Parents of college students often say that these are the best years of our lives so we should enjoy them now because once we start working all the things we think that are hard now will seem like a dream.
Every time I hear an older adult say that I become terrified because if things are this bad now I don't even want to know how bad they will be later. A lot of times I get teased by my friends because I'm one of those that chooses to sit at home and study for a test that is a week away than to go out and party for the night, but it's not because I don't like to party, it's just because I feel like I have my whole life to do that. I'm very young and about to finish school, and I've always had the mindset to graduate from the university and then do other things later. This is for the reason that I just don't have the capability to balance out school, socializing and other things. You can say I live a double life. When i'm at home during the break  i'm always hanging out with friends and having as much fun as I can, but when i'm at school i'm always a hundred percent alone focusing on what i'm there to do, which is get an education. This doesn't only apply to me for partying and socializing but also in relationships. Firstly it has always been a rule of mine to be a graduate, start up a career and then get married. As a single college student (unmarried) it is very important to me not to allow any relationship to get in the way of my goal. If at all I find myself in a relationship that hinders me from doing my best, as selfish as this may sound I would have to end that relationship immediately (even if I am "in love"). No guy/girl is worth giving up your future. DO NOT BE A FOOL FOR LOVE...  For all the single students reading this right now school is the most important thing on your plate and every other thing should be worked around it. Often times us college students complain about being so stressed out because we get it all wrong, we put other things first and then try to work school around them. I'm sorry but it just can't work that way. School is designed to take your time. This is the stage where we receive that adequate training we need in order to compete in the world for the rest of our life. So you should take these years very seriously. Don't get me wrong, you can be a hard working student and also very social, but make sure you put a balance on it by making sure the important things have been taken care of. I think everyone would agree that there is nothing more attractive than an intelligent hardworking guy/lady that can also socialize and throw a good party...

  1. On point! Discipline is the bridge btw wishes and realities. There is no genuine success without a real life application of delayed gratification. Well done Lady G. You're such a great writer...
