Is a Housewife A Liability??

I ran across this on Facebook and thought it was really different. My own take here is that I believe modern times have made women stronger, as a result we like to get our hands dirty as well, and I think that's completely fine if she wants to. I'm not ashamed to say that I'm a bit traditional and would actually not mind having a man take care of the finances, while I take full control of the homefront and keep him as comfortable as possible. Of course I don't expect to ever meet a guy that reasons like that today because nowadays settling down seems to be more about joining finances than raising a family (I weep); and nowadays if a guy doesn't see you to have a strong career or plan he looks at you as a
liability. I remember one time I was talking with a guy, and I joked that I wanted to be a full time housewife. He was so stunned, and asked me if I would ever expect any man to want me knowing that I will be a liability. Welp, let's just say he wasn't having it, and thank goodness for me because I wasn't feeling him either. Sadly he didn't stick around long enough to find out that i'm going to school to be a pharmacist (I laugh). These are just my observations, I might be wrong in them, and I pray to God I am. Anyways how do y'all feel about this?

  1. The only reason i'd say being a completely stay-at-home spouse/parent would be bad is because if the one who is working falls ill or loses their job then there's no income coming in anymore. I think i'd be bored being a stay-at-home wife if there aren't children to tend after (aside from hubby who in most cases is the biggest kid of them of all lol). If i was going to stay at home, i'd at least want to do a work from home job even if its only part time.

    1. Great analogy LadyNgo. I could understand a man's fear of the "what if", and I completely agree with you on a woman having some sort of hustle no matter how small it is! Thanks!

  2. There is no job as tasking as that of a house wife. Many women hide under the shade of being a working wife. At the same time, I don't think women should be completely unresourceful. A part time job or having a business of their own will do. Building and nurturing the home is the core purpose of a woman.

That being said.. You know yeah Lady Gee toh Sure... Its 2015! and that means the times are 2015X harder. Now i am of the school of thought that no matter how successful I will become.. I need a woman who will bring something to the table beyond marriage Duties.. I mean I am looking out to maRRy a wife and not a Maid nah (Saw this on FB minutes ago). Think about it Bubba.. For a Family to really grow.. Both someboRRys need to come together with their Quota.. No maRRa how small teh cash may be. I aint looking to Marry a Banker that will ignore me of my 1 AM HARD cravings or not be there for my Kids at 4 PM when they return from work.. I am looking to end up with a woman who has a career big enough to bring in a relative amount of cash. and Flexible enough to take care of uS! Anyways.. I guess just Like the Onyibo man says! "if Wishes were horses.. Even Duru would Ride without sitbelts :)" Cheers.

  4. I think it's a matter of choice. Some men adore their wives that they don't want them to face the hustling life. Though i don't like the full house wife thing cos I've got potentials which can help the world in my own way but also I want to be there for my husband and children.

The beauty of a home is when the husband still takes care of his home and showers his wife with his hard earned money despite the fact that the wife makes millions as well.

  5. For me I believe the steely economic imbalance is a cause for great concern especially to alleviate and prepare for the inevitable. There are many stay at home who had some business perhaps online or wherever to support the household.

There is no point and actually ridiculous to be waiting on bros before you can buy maggi cubes to prepare stew or something. Plus your hubby values you more when you contribute no matter how little.
