Meet Baby Jeremy!

  Hi readers! My family has grown by two feet and one heart, and I am so excited to introduce the newest member to you. Jeremy was born 6:45pm on April 16th 2017 (Easter Sunday). The story of Jeremy's birth sounds almost like a movie. From the dramatic way my labor started down to its triumphant end. The journey of pregnancy is such a glorious and exciting journey. When I look back at the memories I have of my pregnant days, I feel the waves of emotions I passed through over the months. My advice to all expecting mommies, enjoy your pregnancy as much as possible because nine months goes by so quickly. 

 Jeremy is the most peaceful spirit and I am so pleased and blessed to be his mother. 

Please do me  favor and welcome my beautiful baby boy to the world!

 Hello family! I want to say that I have missed blogging and interacting with you all so so much! Life has been somewhat empty without this blog, but taking a break was a very much needed decision. I just want to say thank God for my friends that kept on encouraging me to get back it. if not for them, I probably would have not even considered coming back at this time. Also I want to thank my readers, youtube subscribers and social media followers for constantly asking "where are you?" Lola's funny how that question actually makes you sit down to wonder "where exactly am I?"  I know i've been gone for far too long, but I have an explanation for that absence, and a huge announcement! Happy new month everyone! And happy Nigerian Independence Day! Woohoo! This picture was taken this morning and I'm glowing because I'm having a wonderful weekend, this is my very first Independence Day I the last 6 years, and most of all because this is my birthday month! I pray this new month meets you all well, I pray you find love, happiness and peace this month, and I pray for my country Nigeria, that it may grow to its full potential. Eat good food, drink sweet wine, and turn up! 

When People Try To Control You

Good morning beautiful people! Hope this week has favored you in more ways than none. I have a feeling this weekend is going to be a glorious one for all of us.

Now let's jump right into it. The idea of you can't please everyone is probably the realest statement I've ever heard. In everything you do, people will always try to tell you how to do it. Be it how to eat, how to walk, how to talk, and even how to pray. Everyone feels their way is the best way. I try to keep my blog as controversy free as possible, but of course you can't be 100% spotless all the time. I love to share trending things on my social media platforms such as articles on police brutality, and this week's trending one on Nigerian Twitter of a certain Taiwo who took his 3year fiancé on a maga spree. Of course people will always tell me that I shouldn't be so open with my oppinion partaining to certain issues, and that I should just learn to see things and ignore them. But for me I think that's just ridiculous. Everyone chooses how they want to live there life, and everyone chooses how they want to leave an impact in the world. When it comes to minding my business, I'm pretty good at that. I don't jump in on people's conversations or try to make myself part of scenarios that do not concern me. But as for sharing my oppinion on my platform, I feel as a member of this society and one who loves to write, it's my entitlement and no one can tell me how to write my articles or what to feel about certain situations. I mean hey, that's what got people like Linda Ikeji a house, excuse me I mean a castle in Banana Island. Not saying I'm a Linda Ikeji, but I sure would love to be half of that some day. 

Do you ever feel like your tongue is being held back or a person is trying to control the way you do things? We all do, and we have our ways of dealing with it. How do you deal with it? 

Let Me Tell You About The Time I Got My First Bra.

Just like most of you I was a young blood at some point in my life. I said most of you because it just sounds smoother. My friends and I had our own ideas of what was cool and what was trendy. Back when I was in elementary school, I went through a lot of experiences. Most times when I look back on those days I wonder if my life was a movie and I was the star of it. It aways seemed like there was a trend that everyone had to hop on. First it was the hole hoop thing, where if you didn't know how to hola hoop then you were lame. Then it was the jump rope trend, then came the cheetah girls which I wrote about here a while ago, and finally there was the bra craze.

A bra, a small piece of under clothing used to support the female chest. Who would have ever guessed it could become such a big deal. A lot of my friends were beginning to wear bras and I wasn't about to be left out of the loop. One faithful day a friend of mine wore a new bra to school and I was just so amazed at how a little piece of under garment made her uniform look so much better than mine. I just had to have a piece of that bra. So after lunch during bathroom break I had a little discussion with her in the bathroom and she agreed to borrow me her bra, but she insisted that she needed to have it back after school before her mom found out. So we did the "switcheroo" and we were off. I was loving my "borrowed" bra like not other. It kind of made me feel like a grown woman in some sense.

Ways To Keep Your Mind Positive in the Mist of Everything.

With the way the world is moving it seems like everything is falling apart. From the crysis in Syria, to the bomb explosions in Turkey, the multiple terror attacks in France all the way to the horrible flooding that happened in Louisiana. One could say that the world has gone mad. Despite all these tragedies we as humans also have our own personal struggles that we are facing. Some of us are facing health issues, some of us financial issues, some of us even marital issues. How does a person keep their head up in the mist of all these tragedies. But the world has to go on and so do we. So I have taken it upon myself to compile a list of a few things I believe can help a person up lift their spirits in the mist of worries and tragedies.

1. Meditate: Studies show that people who meditates are both happier and more self fulfilled. Meditation is a great way to reflect on yourself and focus on things that can help you better yourself

Baecation! My Trip To Kenya.

  Good morning crew! Originally I was supposed to release this post in a YouTube video, but as I stated in my previous post I have been having internet troubles of recent. I will still be releasing the video version of this hopefully in a few weeks to come, but for now enjoy a few of the photos.

   So about a week after our introduction the hubby and I jetted off to Mombasa Island for a short her away, and relaxation time. We chose Kenya because it is in Africa, and I've always wanted to explore our beautiful continent. Africa is such a huge continent with so many tourist destinations. You would all be surprised at the amazing things our continent has to offer. 

  As we landed at the International Airport in Mombasa, we were chauffeured to our hotel by the hotel driver. We stayed at the Best Western Plus Creek Side Hotel. The hotel had the most beautiful view and was located right on Nyali lake. Not to mention the service was exceptional. We were greeted like executives, and welcomed with cold tropical drinks to cook us off after our journey. After checking in, we were ushered to our room and settled in before coming down for lunch.

Blogging In Lagos Is Becoming Very Difficult.

The internet situation in Lagos has really made blogging a nightmare for me. I'm more of a computer blogger. Which means I like to have my desk, my special comfortable chair, and my computer filled with content. Of course I don't have my little blogging corner set up in Lagos yet, but we are working on it. For now most of my blogging here has been on my phone. My main issue here though is not the blogging corner, it's the Internet. I use an Internet provider that is recognized as Nigeria's best and fastest internet, and when I use it in other areas it works perfectly fine, but once I get home it just poops. This has made life so difficult for me. I have loads and loads of videos edited and ready to upload, but no internet to upload them! I can't use my phone because the files are too big and will eat up all my MB. It's so bad that for the past 5days I've been uploading one video and it still hasn't reached 50%.

  I need help on what to do! Is there a fellow blogger out here in Lagos that has experienced this tragedy and found a solution to it? I have so many videos I want to share with you all, including my introduction. Suggestions needed. 

How I Overcame My Crazy Makeup Addiction.

  A lot of women are pro-makeup. We love it because it serves as a form of self expression. It's fun to be able to do cool things with your face and express how you feel with each stroke of your makeup brush. The things we learn to do with makeup everyday have become countless, from face contouring, to even body contouring. The makeup game has surely stepped up and so have we.

  I can't speak for all but I can definitely speak confidently for myself. I'm a makeup enthusiast. As crazy as it is to say, one of the things that makes me happy is walking into my room and seeing my makeup stand. There's just something about those pretty colors that makes my soul happy. I love to sit in front of my computer and watch YouTube makeup tutorials. They allow me to learn new things, and also help me perfect some of my techniques. As much as I love makeup I seriously believe that makeup should not take the place of ones natural beauty. The truth is that it actually took me a while to get to that point.

You Never Really Know Someone, Until You Start Living With Them...

    The saying you never really know someone until you start living with them has never held so much meaning to me until now. After my introduction ceremony, as the culture demands, I went home with my husband and we began life as one that night. We haven't done the church wedding yet, so by the end of the summer I will be going back to my parent's house, but for the meantime that I have been here, I can say that I truly have learned a lot about living with a person. I've never required so much patience until now. If I count all the times I've had to stop and take a deep breath before acting, I might fall asleep from all the counting. It's kind of like when I was in college and lived with roommates. It was not easy, and most times I acted the way I wanted towards them because they were  not my family members and I did not really have to deal with them on a personal level. But in the case of a significant other such as a spouse, they are someone you share everything with. You deal with them on the most intimate level, and you stick with them always. This means you can't deal with issues concerning them as carelessly as you would a roommate. Even if you choose to turn your back and ignore them, you still wake up to see their face first thing in the morning, they still have the keys to your house and know where you keep all your valuables, and at the end of the day they still have your heart. A lot of times your partner will surprise you by doing things you never thought they could do. A lot of them will be good and we always pray for that, but as human beings some of them might not be so pleasant. The same way our partners surprise us, we also surprise our partners. There are a lot of things we do that take them by surprise, and sometimes has them begging the question of whether they truly know us or not.
  At the end of the day patience from both sides is highly required to cope with the big change, and with patience comes understanding, which is the key antidote to live in peace.

Market Tale: "I No Get Change" epidemic...

   

 So yesterday I did something bold and took myself and my handbag to a Lagos market. I've always been the estate shopper kind of woman. I just go downstairs and buy my groceries from a one stop shop near my house, but this time hubby requested for us to stop eating frozen foods and start buying live chicken, and with that request there was no other way around it. So yesterday morning after staying up thinking about all the things that could go wrong, I woke up early, got my self together, counted my shopping cash, and was off. I went to one of the newly renovated markets around my area. Of course I didn't go alone ( you want make I loss?), I went with my handy dandy baba. Luckily for me the road was newly built and not yet opened for cars, so I had the freedom of walking around comfortably without having to deal with mud on my shoes. The first place I stopped was the chicken slaughter pin. As I stared at the chickens I couldn't bring myself to choose the one I want. Yes I eat chicken and love it, but it's different when you see an animal alive and then the next minute it's dead and inside your stew. But hey, man's got to eat. Baba pointed to the fattest chicken in the cage, and without a second wasted the seller grabbed the chicken and killed it. I closed my eyes as the killing process went on, and decided to go and buy some other things on my list as the chicken was being killed.

This Week Try To Live For You!

Happy Sunday sunshines! I can feel the cool breeze of the new week already hitting my cheek! This week looks like a splendid one. It's almost hard to believe that we're already in the month of April. Just few weeks ago I was back home in Nigeria welcoming in the new year with my family. Now Easter is over and we're almost half way through the year.

How Nigerian Do You Think I Am?

This is a question which always comes with interesting answers and assumptions. As you all know I live in the USA, but exactly how Nigerian am I? Was I born in Nigeria? DO I speak my language? DO I know what town I am from? Can I name some Nigerian dishes besides Jollof rice? Most people are shocked when they hear the answers to those questions.
